STEAM!
Date: Wednesday, June 27, 2007 || Time: 10:05 AM
the GP topics yesterday were damn scary. I look from question 1 to 12 all also blur blur. like that kind of questions that i only one got point to write on. Anyway, after thinking for damn long i finally settled on this:
"Discuss the risks and benefits of doing away with national borders." what the hell.

Anyway, good luck to all for the most STEAMY dish of the lot... Rich and creamy Economics topped with spicy Mathematics in our very own homemade sauce! ENJOY. =D

Story of the day
Date: Wednesday, June 20, 2007 || Time: 4:37 PM
Something all of us can learn from.
__________________

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study.

His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed. the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold.

Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible?!" and stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things. When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago.

With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. His father had carefully underlined a verse, Matt7:11, "And if he, being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly father which is in heaven, give to those who ask Him?" As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words. PAID IN FULL.

How many times do we miss God's blessings because they are not packaged as we expected? Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.

Famine Camp 2007
Date: Monday, June 18, 2007 || Time: 6:05 PM
let me share with you all an interesting fact! "When you have sex with someone, you are having sex with everyone that they have had sex with for the last 10 years, and everyone they and their partners have had sex with for the last 10 years!" in other words, the risk of contracting HIV is higher especially if you don't know whether your partner has had sex with multiple partners before. bet you didn't know that. spread the msg around! SO, to ppl who like to ji-hong a lot, BE CAREFUL! =D condoms may break.. haha..

Opening Ceremony

Whoa... 30 hours without food is real steam.. haha.. the first mouth of food that we took at the end of it tasted damn good even though the food was rather ordinary. =D you all can try it one day to experience how children are suffering in many parts of the world.. ok basically there was no food from 2pm on 16/06/07 all the way to the next day 8pm.. luckily we are allowed to drink water.. occasionally a Yeo's drink would be served to give us an energy boost. =) there was really a lot of ppl that attending the camp. We were split into 'countries' (basically groups) that represented Lesotho, Cambodia, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Myanmar, Ethiopia, Zambia and Bangladesh, one of the poorest countries in the world. For 30 hours, I was a MONGOLIAN!

2 seconds remaining!

At the camp, there was this 15-year-old boy named Ly Long who came all the way from Cambodia to tell us about his life story. It's real sad actually. Ly Long and his 2 siblings used to live a normal life until one day, when his father had gone out with a group of friends to drink. Since then, everything changed. His father often returned from his drinking sessions in a foul mood. If he was not happy with what Ly Long's mother had prepared for dinner, he would throw the food on the floor and kick it. Though he brought home the bacon, he did not use all of the money that he got for the family. Instead, he kept half for himself, so that he could often go out to drink with his friends. Their family became very poor. His father died one day(sorry i forgot the cause). Ly Long was forced to drop out of school to work. Everyday, he would go out in the morning, picking up rubbish or recyclables along the street that he would probably sell for money. He would go home for lunch, then go out again in the hot sun to continue his work. He told us that he was embarrassed to be picking up rubbish along the street. He was afraid that he would be laughed at. But he did not have a choice. He had to support his family. Just imagine, a 15-year-old dropping out of school to do such manual labour everyday under the hot sun. With the help of WorldVision, Ly Long's situation has improved. He has been enrolled back into school and he promises to do his best in school so that he and his family will have a better life in the future.

Ly Long is so lucky to have been spotted by WorldVision. But what about those people who are in similar situations as Ly Long but yet help cannot reach them? It is a rather sad thought. At the camp, the organiser asked us 3 very simple questions. Firstly, "how many of you here go to school?". Second question was, "how many of you here have a bed to sleep on every night? And the third question was, "how many of you here have at least 3 meals a day?" When I heard him ask such questions, my first reaction was, 'duh this guy is asking the obvious'... but now that I think about it, i realise that many of these poor children all over the world can't even answer a 'yes' to any of these questions. We are so fortunate to be born here. Can you imagine what would happen if you were born in a remote village in Zambia or Mongolia? Our lives might just be totally different. So the moral of the story is, treasure what you have! =)

Off I Go to Famine Camp
Date: Saturday, June 16, 2007 || Time: 4:01 PM
haha ok so basically, later I am supposed to go to Republic Poly to attend this camp called the 30-Hour-Famine Camp. haha. we are supposedly going there to learn about famine and poverty as well as personally experience what it is like to be hungry so that we can better empathise with the poor and the hungry.. i think we aren't supposed to eat anything after lunch tmr. so ya, GOOD LUCK TO MY POOR TUMMY. hmmm. i have this strong feeling that my stomach won't be able to tahan without having dinner and something to eat all the way till the next day. normally 5 hours is all it takes after a heavy meal for me to be hungry again... so you know what? i'm going to smuggle in some food! wahaha.. k la i shall do my best not to eat to experience what the hungry kids in Africa are experiencing every day. but then... you know... =) like what Limzy the Pro once said, to ERR is human.. ERR!

goodnight world. =D

Pumpfest 2007 & TJCCC Outing!
Date: Thursday, June 14, 2007 || Time: 6:35 PM
ok so here is my first decent post.. haha... ok so like what Limzy the Pro once said, 'pumpfest is over like the passing wind'... don't really want to blog much about it coz i think most of the climbers would already have done so.. I shall let the pictures do the talking instead! =D anyway, it was the most memorable competition for most of us.. especially myself... coz compared to the last competition where i didn't even get top 30, i should be very happy. haha.. by a dash of luck given to me by the ever so lucky Eleanor (who according to her won 1st for all 3 previous comps thanks to her LUCK!), i managed to squeeze out a 1st in the Novice Men's Category.. =) haha.. much of the credit must go to our wonderful coach and friend Philip who is SO technical in his climbing u would idolise him if u knew how to appreciate the sport. lol.. I hope all the climbers will keep the passion alive.. let's not let all the hard work we put into training go to waste.. haha. hope to see many of TJCCC 06/07 climbers in Boulderactive next year...! for now, PICTURES=D

lol darren similar pic!

the right hand hole is not vv nice... side-pull... k la actually the left foothold is worse.. sloping downwards.

haha this tile is HUGE! a big volume... quite nice to hold and hook though.. =)

this is another crap tile to heel hook! sloping downwards.. very shallow.. needed about 3 times to get it right..

ok at this moment the feeling is simply amazing. =D

yups. so well that's about it for Pumpfest 2007. see you next year pumpfest!

well so today we had a TJCCC dinner at Cafe Cartel at Plaza Singapura. k call me noob or suaku or what but believe it or not it's my first time eating at Cafe Cartel! lol.. quite nice lei the food.. wa spoilt for choice sia.. see the menu got so many all got "must-try"... lol.. in the end, 5 of us decided to order the St Louis Pork Ribs since it was so famous and highly recommended.. we ordered 5. after like 10 or 15 mins, 4 came. Only 4. so since i was sitting on the outside, i passed all of the plates in one by one... in the end weicheng joey limzy and darren all got their wonderful and delicious ribs to eat and were busy munching away.. BUT WHERE WAS THE MISSING SET OF PORK RIBS? wa... wait until damn longg.. see them eat until damn shiok liddat but poor me could only lick my lips.. after waiting like another 10 to 15 mins then my ribs finally came. the waitress apologized. LOL. make me wait so long only one apology. should at least give us the seafood platter free rite.. lol. FAT HOPE. [WA AT THIS POINT SUDDENLY ALL MY WINDOWS CLOSE AND MY COM AUTO RESTARTS TO INSTALL UPDATES! SCARY! lucky my draft was saved leh if not i cry! post so long then tio delete also SHIOKADOO feeling...] so ya i enjoyed my meal... though it was kinda filling.. ok very filling. near the end nearly can't finish. next time i go i shall try out the many other nice dishes on the menu.. haha..

my delicious and yummy St Louis Pork Ribs. HUGE!

after dinner, we chiong-ed to Cathay to catch the movie Fantastic 4 which was supposedly abt to start, only to realise when we reached Cathay that we were supposed to go instead all the way back to Plaza Sing! OH MY. my poor food went bouncing and bouncing around in my stomach.. STITCH sia.. lucky we were on time.. haha the movie is nice, i feel. though it may be short, it doesn't actually seem tt short coz of the very high speed flying here and there.. damn cool.. shall not be a spoiler for Fantastic 4 lovers out there... enjoy the movie! =)
