9-day work week
Date: Friday, April 23, 2010 || Time: 11:40 PM
the weekend is here! a little happy but yet feels kind of weird because......... I'M WORKING TOMORROW! and sunday as well. think the hotel rushing for deadline or something. what a move. lol. good thing is there will be 3 days off next week, just nice for me to use for my Jakarta trip... but I'll rather have 2 days of weekends off than 3 days of weekdays off! so many more things I can do with a saturday.. nvm climbing tomorrow evening haha. :D thanks guys for accomodating!

so I have worked since monday. Including this weekend and all the way till Tuesday, it will be a 9-day work week. lol! things I can look forward to after work this weekend would be:

- climbing on saturday evening
- Man Utd- Tottenham match which I will miss but its okay, if I don't climb it'll be a while before I climb again!
-Arsenal- Man City match, exciting!
- Star Awards on Sunday evening

what a move!
Date: Tuesday, April 20, 2010 || Time: 11:53 PM
joke of the day!

I was curious to check out what the upper floors of the hotel looked like today... so I took a lift up to the 48th storey with my colleague. The lift was kind of scary though. It looked half-completed coz there was quite a big gap between the door and the lift frame- we could see the outside floors zooming past us! and it had no light! yes it was pretty scary. When we got out on the 48th floor we checked out the hotel rooms and it was damn nice! with a nice bathtub and a nice bed and a nice view... haha.. we went back out to the lift but there was no button to press for the lift because the contractors were not really done with the installation yet. Fortunately, there was the service lift that worked, so we pressed for the lift and went back down to do our stuff.

that's NOT the joke yet.. in case you were thinking it was. haha.

after we were almost done, we had some time to spare before going home so we thought maybe we could just zoom up in the lift to one of the higher floors and just check out the view again from one of the hotel rooms. So we went up to the 35th storey this time. on the way down we pressed for the service lift again but it was closed for servicing or maintenance or whatever, so... GG! we ended up walking down the stairs from the 35th storey. LOL! what a move.

sick! must be because of all the dust in the hotel lobby.. or maybe it's the rain.. or maybe it was passed on to me from one of my colleagues. lol. I wore a mask at work today and looked like a dentist!

eventless saturday tomorrow, apart from Ai at 7pm (lol am I the only one who watches Ai??? haha!) and man city-man utd match after... any tips? lol. climbing on sunday, but I hope I don't get called back to work! or it will be doubly sad.. no climbing on my free day then when I'm supposed to go climbing I get called back. fingers crossed.

anyone with any news from the universities?? no news is BAD NEWS. lol. it's so difficult to plan... maybe I should just go ahead with the booking of the australian accomodation first... have this bad feeling that it's gonna be rejection the first round then I probably might try to appeal but then I probably won't have enough time to wait for the appeal result and yet not prepare for australia so in the end I might just start packing and everything and off I go. wow that's a long one. anyone with any idea when the appeal results might come out?? :)

birthday wishes

why do I readily decide to buy frozen yoghurt which costs like $5.10 or $5.60 but yet I hesitate when it's something else like Anderson's ice-cream which costs $4 plus (which I also like!) ? LOL.. I shall figure out what it is about frozen yoghurt that I am attracted to.. the original flavour is just as good as the flavoured one! :) I must be influenced by rongjun after seeing him buy it so often. haha.

many thanks to FELICIA for inviting us to your birthday chalet! happy birthday in advance! :)) hope you had a great time, you certainly seemed like a busy bumblebee last night. lol. and enjoy the tequila too. :D haha. zhao couldn't make it because they missed their flight from hongkong and I heard from sinkiat they had to book another one on the spot! so they had to wait like 6 or 7 hours.. and the money they paid for their previous ticket was forfeited. poor souls! according to sinkiat, they reached the airport with quite a lot of time left or something, but they had to take a train and change and walk or something so they ended up missing their flight. aren't we all glad that we've got the best airport in the world? :)

karung guni job
Date: Wednesday, April 7, 2010 || Time: 11:42 PM
okayy I realised I was employed not just to do POS terminals!! turns out I'm "thrown" anywhere to do any sort of manual/technical work, from assembling printers to unpacking monitors and CPUs to copying down IP addresses.. like a karung guni! everything also take. LOL. its okay la, the experience is pretty fun. :)

and the lunch! I look forward to lunch every day. haha. never eaten so much salad in a span of a few days before.. nice and healthy... :D unlike the cereal prawns (unhealthy but nice!) we had that day at our dinner gathering.. speaking of which, thanks a lot Jingwen for helping to organise the dinner that day! :D wow I was quite surprised so many of us turned up- jingwen rongjun chick junyu limzy bel graham and darren.. although we had to "hike" to our dinner location, the food turned out to be worth the wait. :) haha.

one month ago, saturdays and sundays did not seem as precious... lol don't take them for granted! :D

you know how sometimes you remember someone's birthday but then you hesitate whether to drop the person a msg or maybe because you're feeling lazy at the time you decide not to and the person ends up not knowing you remembered? on the other hand, supposing you did drop the person a msg, I think the person would be pretty happy and touched, especially if you haven't met in ages. at least that's how I would feel. okayy I'm rambling.. I shall stop. lol.

2 days to Friday!

new job
Date: Thursday, April 1, 2010 || Time: 8:27 PM
wow today was my first day of work.. guess where? lol. at the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort. :) it was pretty fun! it's kind of cool thinking that I get the chance to see what the IR looks like before most Singaporeans do. haha. it's kind of meaningful too if like one day you think back and go, 'oh hey I had a part to play in contributing to what the IR is today.' lol! okay although it might be just that teeny weeny much.

the job so far has been pretty basic: basically it's helping to unpack POS terminals (army guys will probably know what's this- the touch screen thing to record who comes for meals etc, in the case of the restaurants I think they'll probably use it to view availability of seats or take orders) and doing some basic settings and checks before packing them back into the boxes again to be deployed to the restaurants and cafes I guess. So far haven't got a chance to go check out those places, but I think soon I'll get the chance to check out the casino! if we're deployed there haha. no need to pay $100 lol.

and wow the construction of this IR really created a lot a lot of jobs, as the government promised. there's so many people working there in all sorts of positions, from chefs to construction to safety to security to housekeeping to planning and so many more I'm sure. haha. the housekeeping side was mainly all ah tiongs! LOL. the IR really takes good care of its workers. the lunch is really good with lots of variety plus in air-con, from muslim to western to indian to salads etc. but I heard from another temp guy working together with me that a small portion of their salary goes into paying for the lunch. not sure how true, but anyway it was free for us coz one of the permstaff used his pass. :D and the amount of food the china people take at the canteen is like... oh my. like they haven't eaten in days! there was this china woman who piled a mountain of rice onto her plate. I have never seen a woman eat that much rice before. And it's not like she was plump or anything! just average built. amazing huh. then there were other china men who piled huge mountains of lettuce and greens onto their plates.

quite fortunate I got this job coz Kokyi recommended. no need interview some more, plus no need wear working attire. previously sent out several resumes but only recruit express replied, so was quite sian already. haha. hopefully I enjoy this job! gonna be pretty short term though... they're rushing for the opening of the IR which is on April 27th... I wonder if they'll make it.. haha. see how it goes! :D
